My name is Ethan Seder and I graduated from Harvard with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. The goal of this website is to show my interest in building, tinkering, and designing. Included are some of my projects, past and present.
Responsible for designing, testing, integrating new technologies and health sensors into future products.
Developing and testing consumer airbag for cyclist
Owned the Dragon2 Capsule Crew Abort Drag Rack System redesign.
Designed and supervised $8 million robot subassembly line through concept, purchasing, and installation.
S.B. in Engineering Sciences (Mechanical and Materials Sciences and Engineering) Coursework in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Statics, CAD, Machining. Commit 25 hours per week to the Harvard Varsity Men’s Rowing Program. Competed in Varsity Boat at Head of the Charles and won Henley Royal Regatta Prince Albert Challenge Cup.
I am developing an airbag for bicyclists. The system is designed to be integrated into the shoulder straps of the user’s backpack. The system is capable of senses impending impacts and deploys within 200 ms to protect the user. The airbag is designed to protect the neck, clavicle, ribs, and shoulder.
Check out a video of it in actionI have been a part of Harvard’s SEAS racing team for two years. We are building a fuel-efficient vehicle to compete in the SAE Super-mileage Competition. Last year, I designed and manufactured the rear wheel and transmission to minimize power loss. In June 2018, we placed the highest of any first-year teams.
As President of the team, I have handled administrative duties such as scheduling, budgeting, and complying with regulations. From machining to carbon fiber manufacturing, I am working hard to engineer our race car to be fast and fuel efficient.
ES51: Computer Aided Machine Design focuses on the design and construction of mechanical and electromechanical devices. I learned engineering graphics, sketching, dimensioning, tolerancing, materials selection, structural design, and the necessity of precision in design and manufacturing. Our team designed and manufactured a robot that won 2nd place in the class competition.
